Frozen Hot Chocolate – Keto, Low Carb, Dairy Free

Since last week I shared Maddie’s favorite Keto Strawberry Colada Milkshake , it was only fair this week that I share Paige’s favorite Keto Frozen Hot Chocolate.  Inspired my Paige’s favorite coffeehouse beverage, this frozen hot chocolate really is a chocoholics dream!  Rich, creamy, super chocolaty and sugar free this yummy drink not only tastes amazing but is sure to impress even your toughest keto critics!

As I mentioned before, Paige is my chocolate lover.  In the heyday of our Starbucks addiction, she had a regular order of a Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino…hold the java chips (sigh).  It was basically a blended super sweet chocolate milk with whipped cream.  But, since Maddie and I cut out sugar and  went keto, Paige has taken notice and has made an effort to cut out some of her old habits…a tall order for an 8 year old!  If she has learned one thing…she knows that sugar is not good for her and is trying to make better food choices.  We are always trying to come up with “healthier” versions of her favorites things to help her out and this Keto Frozen Hot Chocolate is one of her favorites.  She is not 100% there yet but she is paying attention and I have to admire that from someone her age!

We spent a few days coming up with the perfect drink for her very decerning taste buds!  It was important that she felt like she was getting a treat and I really wanted it to be something she wanted to drink time and again.  Paige has no issues with milk, unlike her sister, but she has started asking for almond milk lately so this Frozen Hot Chocolate is completely dairy free.  We used our favorite Rodelle cocoa to add incredible chocolaty flavor and a bit of coconut milk for some healthy fat and richness.  The ingredient that really takes this drink over the edge is the avocado!  The avocado more good for you fats but also adds incredible creaminess to the whole thing…. its really better than any coffee shop frappe around!

Keto / Low Carb Frozen Hot Chocolate (Dairy & Gluten Free)

This Keto Frozen Hot Chocolate is a chocolate lovers dream!  Filled with healthy fats and without all the sugar, syrups and bases found in the traditional coffeehouse drinks, you can now enjoy with abandon! Diary & Gluten Free!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk, full fat
  • 1 tbsp avocado
  • 1 1/4 tsp Pyure sweetener or 2 1/2 tsp of 1:1 sweetener
  • 1 tbsp good quality cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch pink Himalayan salt
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes, 6-10 cubes
  • Whipped Coconut Cream & Sugar Free Chocolate Chips for garnish

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to the blender, except ice and chips.  Blend on high until smooth.  Add half of ice and blend again on high until smooth.   If you want it to be thicker or more icy, add more ice till desired consistency is reached.  Pour into a glass and top with whipped coconut cream and a few chocolate chips...enjoy!  

Notes

Are you a mocha lover?  Blend in a shot of espresso!
For a double chocolaty chip version, try blending in a tablespoon of sugar free chocolate chips!
